Climate Change in Redbridge

Thank you for contributing to improving Active Travel in Redbridge.

Over the last few months we have been working to respond to the Climate Change Emergency declared in June 2019. The Council committed to developing a plan to make all the council's operations carbon neutral by 2030 and to reduce all emissions to zero by 2050. This means we will need to use green power, insulate our buildings more effectively, facilitate active travel and use electric vehicles, among many other actions.

Our work on Climate Change is led by a cross-party Corporate Panel of councillors. The panel’s work is underpinned by evidence from a Green Audit being carried out by Eunomia, which is enabling us to understand our current emission sources and possible pathways for reaching our targets. The Panel will be making recommendations to Cabinet in October. As any actions will affect our residents, we need your help to understand your priorities and help us reach our targets.

We want you to have a go at setting the council’s carbon budget. You will be given 55 points to spend on different initiatives the council can adopt to address Climate Change in Redbridge. These range from food and transport, to energy and property. Your input will help us understand your priorities and help shape our response to the Climate Emergency. You also have the opportunity to share any further ideas you have.
